Expedition To The Baltic Sea Hopes To Solve A Mystery

" In mid May we are preparing an expedition with more sophisticated sonars, cameras and other equipment to hopefully determine what these strange objects are and if it is safe to try a drive to them"
-Peter Lindburg, Co Owner, Ocean Explorer, Stockholm, Sweden

Peter Lindberg, the originator of the Ocean Explorer team started his wreck career by finding an Amercian B-17 bomber in 1992 off the Swedish east coast.

In 1994 Peter Lindberg and his companions found information about a ship wreck loaded with champagne and cognac in local court archives. This lead to the great find of the small schooner "Jönköping" in 1997 and the salvage of the same in year 1998. 2400 bottles of Heidsick & Co MONOPOLE Gôut Américain 1907 champagne where recovered from the wreck and raised world record prices when sold at Cristie's auction house in London.

In 1999 Peter Lindberg and his team found the wreck "Kyros" which had 1000 bottles of cognac and 300 bottles of liquer in her hold. Depth, lack of funding and weather problem has made this project an "unclosed" project so far.

Peter Lindberg has participated in many other wreck projects and salvages and are constatly working on new projects.

On June 10, 2011 at an unrevealed location some 250 feet below the brackish waters between Sweden and Finland, the deep-sea salvage company Ocean Explorer has discovered a large, bizarrely shaped object on the seabed.

"This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom," said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the amateur treasure hunters.

Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it's not alone. Nearby on the sea floor is another, smaller object with a similar shape. Even more fascinating, both objects have "drag marks" behind them on the sea floor, stretching back more than 400 feet.

And what’s more, when the team turned back to make another pass and get a closer look, they found another similarly shaped object some 600 feet away.

The Ocean Explorer Team Has gone public since the discoveries asking for backing to return to the site to investigate further. The following are posts and updates from the website:
